Armed with a powder-coated, carbon steel shovelhead and a serrated blade edge, the Gerber Entrenching Tool offers military-grade design and construction to conquer tough digging problems in all types of terrain. The foldable body is made of an anodized aluminum shaft and glass-filled nylon handle. The head folds back exposing a pick for loosening rock and breaking up roots. The Entrenching Tool folds for easy storage and transport (see larger image). It measures 23.8 inches long when opened, and it folds down to 9.3 inches long and 6 inches wide.
